Family Tradition~ Christmas Tree

What did I want most for Christmas (besides my husband)? A really Christmas tree! In the eight years Paul and I have been together we have always had an artifical tree. Last year when we were putting the tree away I said, " Honey do you realize that we have had this tree since our first Christmas together? I really think we should get rid of the artifical tree so that next year we have to get a real one." We donated the artifical tree because it was still in pretty good shape.
Ever year we put up our tree on Thanksgiving night and decorate it that night and finish it the next night. However this year we bought the tree on the day after Thanksgiving. We ended up getting a 9-10 foot Fraiser fir. I love it! I finally got my REAL TREE! We are not decorating it tonight but I will post those picture after it's decorated.

Thanksgiving~ A little color on a gloomy day!

We had many things to be thankful for this year. The thing we are most thankful for is being together as a family this Thanksgiving. I'm also thankful for all the friends we have made in the year (plus a couple months) we have been here. As we were leaving my friends house I spotted a double rainbow. The rainbow made me think about the past and how much God was with me even in the times didn't feel it. He was there and he is with me and he cares about all the details in my life. Even the little ones.

Loose Tooth Number Two~ GONE

Madison's loose tooth was bothering her so I told her that she could eat an apple and it would come out when she bit into it. After thinking about it for a few hours she said that she would like to try it. I gave her and apple and watched as she attempted to bit the apple, only thing was she wasn't biting with the lose tooth. I told her that if she wanted the tooth to come out she would have to bit the apple using that tooth. "Here I'll hold the apple and take a bit. Make sure to bit hard." I held the apple she bit it and I gave it a little extra push. "Ow, ow that hurts." I didn't think the teeth came out so I said let me see. "It's gone. Look your tooth is right here in the apple." Now the tooth fairy will have to pay you a stop.

Halloween

Madison went to school in her custom so they could go to the school wide parade. The parade was alright. We sat in the sun for an hour and it was hot. I don't know what the temperture was in the morning but I know later in the day it was 86, too hot for October. When we got back to class the teacher had little station set up for the kids to do different crafts. It was an interesting day since they had subistute teachers because the teachers had to go to a meeting. I think all the kids enjoyed the day.

After school we went out to eat, hit the mall (mainly for Build A Bear), and headed home to get the stuff we needed to bring to church. We went to church early to help set up. I helped set up while Madison enjoyed herself in the jump house., she spend most of the night in the jump houses. One of her friends from school came so Madison, Jacob, his brother and a little boy from church hung out for the whole night. I enjoy talking with Jacob's mom and a few ladies from church. I was a fun night. We were at church unitl a little after nine. So Madison played in the jump houses for about four, four and a half hours. Needless to say, she was tired. We got home and she had a melt down because she had to wash the face paint off. We finally were in bed and the phone rang. DADDY! We talked to daddy and we were off to sleep. (Just in case you are looking for a picture of Maddie in her costum at church you will not find it she refused to wear it. Then about ten minutes before we left she put it on for like two minutes.)

Georgous!

Imperial Beach

My sisters-in-law and I bought the kids to Imperial Beach today. The plan was to meet at ten to drive to the beach and at nine thirty it was raining. Can you believe it was raining today of all days. It NEVER rains here but it did today. It stopped by ten and we head over to the beach and it was overcast but nice. It spinkle a few minutes while we were there but we stuck it out. I think it might have been ten minutes max. It was funny see a few people running to leave when it started to sprinkle. People are so funny here, they are scared of rain and think that seventy to seventy-five degrees is cold. Now everyone but a few people. When we walked the pier I seen a few people in pants and sweaters. It's crazy. I think it is too hot here and I miss the cool weather. Mostly I miss fall! No changing of the leaves here, no cool crisp nights, and no day a the apple mill. The things you miss when you leave them behind.

Madison lost her first Tooth

I was downloading some pictures on the computer tonight. I hear Madison behind me and she sounds like she is spiting. I said Madison are you spiting and she comes over to me and says mom my tooth just fell out. I hurry and grab the camera and take a few shots. So here is my baby girl with her missing tooth. The first picture in probably like 20 seconds after she said it fell out. It's was so exciting!!!

Lemon Festival

My friend invited us to go to the Lemon Festival in town today. Madison rode some rides with her son. He's such a handsome little guy. Anyway here a few pictures.

As you can see Madison didn't care for the Frog Hopper. She said it was too scary because it goes up high. I didn't think anything about it since she liked the swings.

Madison got this cowgirl hat at the festival too but my phone was full so I had to take the picture at home.

Operation: Military Kids- Family Day

I got a flyer for Operation: Military Kids- Family Day and it looked like it would be fun. A chance for Madison and I to meet some other military families. It was at a Marines' base that is about thrity five minutes away. I know I have been up in the area before but I couldn't picture it. I wanted to leave myself plenty of time. I was thinking that we would get there early and Madison could play at the park a little while before it started. That was not true, we got there at 9:30 and there were already 200 people in line. So I decided to get in line too, they were handing out backpacks and school supplies to the first 600 kids which was what everyone was in line for. I forgot to mention that they gates didn't open until 11:00, which actually turned out to be 11:20. Anyhow, while we were waiting in there was a couple ladies talking. The one lady asked me about what branch of the military my husband was in," Navy." "Oh mine too," she said. I said the ship mine is on and she said "mine is too." She was telling me that her husband was the CMC. Then she was like my husband probably know your husband and visa verusa. The CMC is the third in command on the ship and he meets with the Chiefs everyday. Ah I learned something today. She was asking if I was aware of the different groups they have for the ship and the wives. Nope! So she said she would add my name and email to the list. I was a interesting wait.
Once we were in the gates we ate the boxed lunch they gave us. Madison petted the turtle, pig and bunny. The only animal she didn't pet was the llama. They only had four animals in their petting zoo and I was a little dissappointed. That was the main reason I brought Madison. We looked at all the information booths, she rode the little car below, we went to get her face painted and they were finished painting face so we left because there wasn't to much more to do. And it was HOT! I was still pretty fun. Madison was really excited about the car ride and I was excited to meet someone who's husband works with my husband.

Blog Update

Hello. I see that my last entry actually posted. I have been having a hard time getting my entries to post using my computer. I seen that there was a comment on the last one, HELLO. It didn't show up on my computer so the last one my computer shows is Madison's first day of school. Since I know it works on a different computer i might add some new entries and back date them.
We are all doing good. Madison will be starting her third week of school and she says she doesn't like it but then she will talk about the stuff she enjoys doing in class. Madison is very excited about getting homework. In fact she was mad because she didn't get homework the first week of school. Her teachers are awesome, I really like them. I will be helping in her class as soon a I get a TB test. Great! No one said anything about a shot before I volunteered to help in the class. Anyhow I'm being a baby, I know it's not that bad. I look forward to working in her class and seeing what she does everyday. I think that I will volunteer one day a week for right now and possible more later. I also started working out at the gym last week. I want to get there four or five times a week. I'm proud of myself for finally getting busy and changing. I know I need to get to getting healthy and add exercise to my life. I have lost sixteen pounds so far. Woo whoo! I'm find to keep busy by doing thing that are good for me and are enjoyable. Surprisingly I actually find working out enjoyable!

First Day of Kindergarten

Today was Madison first day of kindergarten, they had a parent/student orintation. Here is the recap of our day. We walked to school, school started at 9:00 today instead of 8:15. All the parents stayed in the room with the kids, the teachers talked first to the parents and children together. Then we split up, the children went outside to play and the parents stayed in the room with the other teacher. (The class room had two teachers who work together all day.) Then the parents went to the aditorium to hear about the parent teacher club. The children went in the class and learned the some information on the letter A. They did some other stuff too. We are met back together and talked about parking and all the paper work that needs to be filled out. Then we were on our way home. It was a hot walk home, I might end up driving to pick her up until it cools down some. Tomorrow will be a normal day, 8:15 to 11:35. Today is was only 9:00 to 11:00. I know that tomorrow will be very different. Madison loves her teachers and has already made a couple of friends. I think it will be a good day.

My Baby's Growing Up

This morning was complaining about her tooth, she said that it felt like something was sticking on it. I looked in her mouth and I didn't see anything. I went and babysat for my sister in law and as we were leaving Madison said that her tooth felt weird again. "I'll look at it when we get home," I told her. We got home and checked the mail to see if the letter from school had arrived. "YES, it's here." I riped open the envelope, mornings. She got the room that I wanted which makes me happy and I am glad that we got mornings so we can still do stuff after she gets out of school. We will still be able to go the zoo or whatever after school gets out. I had requested mornings when I registered her but later requested a certain teacher who would be teaching afternoons. Later I thought, why did I request the afternoon it will be crazy with her going in the afternoons.
A few hours pass and we sit down to watch a movie and she says, "mom my tooth is lose and I think I am to lose a tooth." I'm think that she just wanted to lose a tooth because her cousin has been talking about when she lost her teeth. I told her come over here and let me see. Sure enough one of the teeth on the bottom right in front is lose. It's pretty wiggly. Now I'm thinking a week or so ago I asked her what she wanted for dinner and she asked what we had that was soft. I think the tooth has been lose for awhile. SO stay tuned for the soon to come, I lost my first tooth picture. It is kind of hitting me now that my little baby girl is growing up. It's exciting, yet I still feel a little sad. I don't know if that is quite it, sad that is. I'm thinking, "where did the time go?" I'm looking forward to all the big girl stuff; making friends at school, losing teeth, learning to tie shoes, learning to read and all papers she will bring home from school showing her progress.

Babysitting Grant

Madison being the big helper while we watched her cousin Grant. Madison had lots of fun being the big help even though she doesn't know much about babies. Why is he doing this or that? What is he saying. Why does he keep rolling over and laying on my leg? He was being a little cuddle bug.

A Thousand Thanks for All you Do!

A salute to America's military children. A couple from church send me information to request a letter be sent to your child thanking them for their parents role in the military and also thanking the child as well, signed with a cartoon character. I send out the request and didn't know what to except. We received the letter today and Madison was so excited to receive mail from Scooby Doo and the Gang. She wants to write Scooby back and tell him about her dad and her life. How cute.

San Diego Zoo

A few of my favorite pictures from the zoo.

Madison's favorite animal, the zebra.

The panda were out and about but the baby was sleeping.

The baby ducks trying to get out of the sun under a plant.

I love this picture because it looks it's laughing.

We spend the last half an hour at the zoo in the petting zoo. Madison was in love with this goat. She was feeding the goats hay. There was hay on the ground so she would go around and scoop up a handful and feed the goats. When I said it was time to leave she was sad but they will be there next time we go.
