Earth Day

Happy Earth Day! I wanted to do something special with Madison for Earth Day, so we did a few things. I brought her to the library for store time. I checked the library calendar and there was a story time at 10:30 but the library was closed when we got there. Next thing we did was buy some flowers to plant in the backyard, the flowers don't require much water which helps us save water. We haven't planted the flowers yet but will do it tonight or tomorrow. After we got back from buying the flowers we went for a walk around the block to pick up trash. The block we walked around in probably around a mile or so long. I couldn't believe that we filled the whole bag with trash, the areas are all kept up by landscaping companies. Madison was so excited, she kept saying " I am so glad we are doing this to help to world." When she would see some trash she was like "Ooo, look I see some!" Then she would ran to get it. Needless to say there isn't any trash on our block now. (Expect the paper cup that was surrounded by bees, didn't feel like getting stung today.) On the walk we seen a moth and a three legged grasshopper. Both insects were big.
I have been think of stuff that we can do to help the Earth. We recycle and the appliances we own are energy star but I think that we could be doing more. I am going to walk Madison to school when she starts in July, that will help some and also save me gas. I will keep thinking of ideas that I can use. I guess I can follow the three R's: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
I just received an email with this article "Why Should I Care about Planet Earth?" I read it and enjoyed it. We are called to be earth-keepers and creation-caretaker. I really like the term creation-caretaker, I think of myself as a creation capturer. Capturing photos of God's creations. That is why I love landscape and nature photography so much, love at all the different landscapes God has created. How different Michigan, California, Arizon and Colordo are yet each one is special in it's own way. Each state in different from the others in some way. God created each rock, mountain and plant. It is amazing to me to see each plant, tree and body of water... amazing that there are so many different kinds.

Watching Grant

Yesterday we watched Grant for a few hours and Madison had fun playing with him. Maddie really wanted to feed him but she didn't want to pay attention so I ended up giving him the bottle and she played with him on the floor.
