Day at the Zoo

Yesterday my sister-in-law and I took the kids to the zoo. We had fun. Of course we didn't walk the whole zoo with a total of four kids but we did see a lot of animals. We will have many more chances to visit the zoo later. These are my favorite pictures from the day.

Easter

Easter morning Madison received a letter from the Easter bunny with a clue to find her basket, "to find your Easter basket go to the place you take a bath." She was like "ugh?', then I said "where do you take a bath?" "In my bathroom!" So she went up stairs and found the basket in the tub and she thought the Easter bunny was funny. (Notice her hair in the picture below. I gave her a bath and spend over a half an hour blow drying her hair the night before so it wouldn't be .... crazy. I guess it was a waste of time)

Getting ready to go to Easter morning service. The church has a brunch and egg hunt after the service.

Waiting for the egg hunt to start. Madison cousins joined us for church. It was a fun time.

Later in the evening we when and had a egg hunt with the girls at their house. We had dinner with the family.

Katie's mustache that reminded me of Uncle Mark.

Fabulous Tip Friday

I love me dry erase calendarboard. I write down play dates, birthdays, holidays and even the days the my husband will not be coming home. Having the calendar out where I can see it and being able to make changes easily at anytime helps me stay on track. It also has room for a to do list and a small cord board for phones numbers and small things. My tip is to keep things where I can see it so I know what will be happening today, tomorrow, and the rest of the month.

Sleepy Little Princess

It was a rough day for Maddie today and well yesterday. Daddy is all she wants and he is working. I let her lay down with me to get her to calm down. She fell asleep in just a few minutes and when I looked at her I seen my baby girl. I had a flash back to when she was a few months old, her baby face. It was there! Lately when I look at her I seen a big girl but tonight I seen my little baby. Calm, relaxed and peaceful.

The picture below is totally out of focus but for anyone who knew me when I was around this age, this picture could past for me. Sometimes I am amazed at how much Maddie looks like me. God is amazing like that, sometimes it throws me back on track. When you look at your kid and you think she is so beautiful and I am, well not. Then I see myself in her and think if she looks that much like me I must be beautiful too?

Trip to Barnes & Noble

Maddie and I made a trip to Barnes & Noble tonight. I seen that my new magazine was out and I wanted to see if they carried it. They do, yes! Here is what I got. Magazines: Heart and Home (new magazine that just came out) and . I also got the Anne Geddes book. When we went to check out the cashier had a Horton Hears a Who pin on. Madison said she like it and he took it off and gave it to her. How sweet. Madison said thank you and then she said she didn't want to save it because she wanted to give it to her dad for his birthday.

Goose Tape

Madison recieved a package in the mail today. The box had a paper bag inside out on it to cover up the writing and it was taped on with brown duct tape. I was helping Madison get the tape off and she said "Why did they have to put this goose tape on it anyways?" I started laughing because it was so cute.

Hard-Wired for creativity?

I was checking out some different blogs today and one had a quiz they had taken for how many colors can you name in five minutes. I don't remember how many I had because it didn't tell me how many I had entered. Anyhow I found this "Is Your Brain Hard-Wired For Creativity?" If you know me you know I love fun quizes, I will pass on the math tests. Ha! I took that test appearently I am hard-wired for creativity! I personally think that I could be more creative, I think I have a blockage right now.

Kindergarten Registration

Madison and I walked up to the school today for kindergarten registration. Today was the first day of registration, so I was there will all of my papers. We didn't get the the school until 8:45 but other people got there before 7:00. When we got there we were number 57 and there were still people there that had got there way earlier. While I was waiting a lady gave me a number of someone that had left, I guess the lady gave her the number and she was a lower number so she gave me that one. I moved from 57 to 49 which was pretty cool since they were at like number 33 when I got it. When it was my turn the lady was thrilled with Madison military shot record since that list the shots in order give instead of grouping them according to the type of shot. Anyhow everything went well with the registration and I requested morning which it sounded like they were giving them to the people who showed up first. Of course at a school a few miles away still in the same school district they said they have a lottery. So I am not sure what the story is, they don't have the first day of school figured out either. I know that she will start sometime in July but not sure exactly when. So that was pretty much my day so far. I have small group to night at church so I can relax until then.

Winter Time Pics From the Past

I was looking for a picture and I stumble upon a these pictures from when we lived in Holland. Look there is snow! How excited. I know for all of you who are looking at snow outside your window right now you are not so thrilled with snow right now because you are most likely ready for spring. I missed winter this year, wish I could have had a little snow but I will deal with what I have. The tempatures are going up here right now. I think it was around 80 to 84 today. I know poor me. I actually really like it it just seems funny to me that in Michigan people are using heat to warm their house and here I am starting to leave the window open at night. But this was my glimpse of what snow looks like, I have not forgot though. Not yet, maybe in a few years.

Craftsman Bungalow

It's Monday and I really need some inspiration. I keep thinking about owning our own house but right now with Paul's job it is not a possibility. So I went to flickr and looked for house I really like, house that I would like to live in someday. Well houses that look like these ones. I really can't wait to have our own house; be able to paint and make cosmetic changes we would like. Buy furniture knowing where it will be placed and knowing it will look good there because it was bought to fit the space. The other thing I'm looking for in owning our own house is landscaping. I can't wait to have my own flower garden, vegetables too. I am going to grow my own pumpkins for fall. It is still a long wait before any of this will happen. But for now I will image what my house might be like. The houses in the posts below are also house I like but they are all photographed by different people so I had to add them separately.

Maddie Zebra Face

Maddie got her face painted at the Wild Animal Park. Thanks Aunt Janey! All three girls got their faces painted. How cute.

Wild Animal Park

We went to the Wild Animal Park it is part of the San Diego Zoo. They have a safari ride that goes though part of park with the animals which is really neat. On the safari you can see lions, zebras, giraffes, rhinos, cheetahs, and other animals that you would see in Africa.
